Blackpool was this year's venue for the national Veterans Day celebrations on Friday 27 June 2008. During the day local Freemasons manned an information stand alongside North Pier. A number of other stands representing the various forces and their support organisations were also present. There is a long tradition linking the military with Freemasonry and of course we have a significant membership who have served in one form or another. Although the weather was rather unkind we did welcome a large number of people to our marquee, some of whom were Masons from all over the country. Many non-Masons took an opportunity to ask questions, pick up leaflets and a copy of the latest West Lancashire Freemason's newsletter. In particular they saw the excellent photo display prepared by Andrew Stansfield covering a range of our recent local charitable efforts. All in all it was a successful event and another positive aspect in our community profile."
