Blackpool Group of Lodges
Up in the air with Emblem Lodge No 6727.
The generosity of Emblem Lodge No 6727 which is a member of the Blackpool group of lodges knows no bounds. As part of the magnificent sum of £6000 raised for Masonic and non-Masonic charities in 2010 they decided to donate £500 to the North West Air Ambulance Service. The cheque was presented by the Immediate Past Master, Peter Smith and the lodge Charity Steward, Colin Wade who had made a personal visit to the base at Blackpool airport.
It was pointed out that the support of the Fylde coast Freemasons plays a very large part in keeping this vital life saving organisation in the air. Just to purchase a new aircraft such as the type required for the Fylde coast would cost around £4.5 million, and that is before the specialist equipment is installed. One little known fact is that the air ambulance will transfer a patient, depending on the severity and nature of the injury to any specialist hospital in the country. For example a North West Air Ambulance can transport an injured person from the North to a medical facility in London in a little over one hour. When an emergency call is received the aircraft will be airborne in just 2 minutes.

The members of Emblem Lodge were aptly looked after on their visit by two of the crew, Wayne Marum and Christopher Beevers. Christopher along with his son are both Freemasons.
