Blackpool Group of Lodges
Unique ritual given high praise
Peace and Unity Chapter No 3966 held their installation meeting at the Masonic hall, Adelaide Street, Blackpool and were delighted to have as their principal guest Second Provincial Grand Principal, Chris Band, who was accompanied by Blackpool Group Chairman, Ian Robertson. Chris welcomed and congratulated the First, Second and Third Principals, Ronald Stangwick, Robert Sims and Bernard Hopkinson on the occasion of their installation to their new offices before going on to praise the ceremony, which he said had been carried out in “impeccable style” by David Thomas.
Chris pointed out that Peace and Unity’s ritual is unique within the Province and anyone who has not witnessed the chapter in action performing it should make an effort to do so. He also added the importance of keeping this special ritual going.
At festive board he explained the need to support the West Lancashire Freemasons’ Charity which had suffered from a drop in donations from lodges as well as individuals due to the effects of the 2010 Festival and that companions should also continue with their fundraising efforts towards the upkeep of the Masonic hall. Chris concluded by congratulating all the officers and wishing them a happy and healthy year in office giving a special thanks to Alan Whitehouse and Len Wiseman the two acting Provincial officers who had attended the installation with him.
Chris Band was
full of praise for Peace and Unity Chapter’s unique ritual.
Ian Robertson also added, “My sincere thanks go to the First Principal and his fellow principals and all the companions for the excellent time I have had at the installation. We all know that the chapter provides an unusual but entertaining ceremony. The work of everyone involved, particularly David Thomas was first class. I look forward to visiting the chapter again in the future”.
