Blackpool Group of Lodges

Two Assistant Provincial Grand Masters, bowled over.

Saturday, 5th, June, saw the finals of the Blackpool and South Fylde Masonic Groups Annual Bowling Finals held at the Lytham Bowling Cub.  As usual the famous Blackpool weather was at its best with sunshine and blue skies lasting throughout the day. Some serious and some not too serious bowling took place, the overall winner W.Bro. David Hamilton of Friendship Lodge received the Rushton Trophy.

The Thurman Cup was awarded to the runner up, W.Bro. Khine Lynn who is a member of Fidelity Lodge.   The semi-finalists were, W.Bro. Ted Rhodes of Triumph Lodge and the Chairman of the Blackpool Group of Lodges, W.Bro. Ian Robertson of Clifton Lodge.  Also there was a secondary competition and this was won by W.Bro Ken Grimshaw of Quadrant Lodge.  Ken defeated the dark horse of the event, a man with a hidden talent, none other than, W.Bro.Leon Tax.

Following a meal of Hot Pot and Apple Pie the prizes which had been kindly sponsored by Khine, were presented to the winners by W.Bro. Terry Hudson.

As this event had been organised on the same day as the Derby, as sweep was organized. One prize going to W.Bro. Graham Taylor and W.Bro.Terry Hudson winning the other

The raffle raised a sum of £83-00p.

W.Bro Jim Bennett, Chairman, and the rest of the committee passed on their thanks to all who had supported what was a wonderful day of bowling coupled with Masonic camaraderie and friendship.

An event not to be missed next year.
