Blackpool Group of Lodges
Snow doesn’t deter Blackpool Masons
Two Blackpool Lodges, Ashlar Lodge No 5154 and Blackpool Temperance Lodge No 5303 were meeting on the same evening at the Masonic hall and decided to hold a joint Christmas festive board. The weather that particular night could not have been worse with heavy snow falling and causing havoc to the roads all along the Fylde coast. Blackpool Masons, being the tenacious lot they are, were not deterred with 70 Masons, wives and non-Masons braving the conditions to attend the special evening’s event. A fantastic sum of £300 was raised for one of Blackpool Group’s favourite charities, Brian House Children’s Hospice.

Peter Mann, Senior Warden of Ashlar Lodge, at the presentation of the cheque to the hospice said: “It is only now that we have been able to get members of both lodges to Brian House due to a busy Masonic calendar. Our sincere thanks go to Blackpool Temperance Lodge as Ashlar’s Christmas raffle is always provided by one of our members who requests that all monies raised goes to Brian House Children’s Hospice.
“Temperance Lodge were more than happy to assist and join with us in this Christmas tradition and they also provided raffle prizes for this very worthy cause”.
