Blackpool Group of Lodges

A Fantastic Musical Coup for Blackpool.

Blackpool Lodge of Sincerity. No. 4175, which is a member of the Blackpool Group of Lodges, has arranged a very special meeting for Wednesday, 9th, March. 2011. They will be hosting a lecture at the Masonic Hall, Adelaide Street, Blackpool entitled  ”Music in Masonry and Beyond” by Wayne Warlow, a fellow mason, whose home is in South Wales.

Blackpool Lodge of Sincerity’s Junior Warden, Steve James witnessed this lecture at Leyland Masonic Hall last September and as an old show business colleague he took the opportunity to invite Wayne to Blackpool to present his lecture to a wider audience. Wayne was only too pleased to accept.

Assistant Provincial Grand Master, Terry Hudson has made this comment. “In September of last year I had the good fortune to be present at this lecture, which, as opposed to the usual rather cerebral presentation, turned out to be a most enjoyable, light- hearted dissertation on music in general and on its relationship with Freemasonry in particular, with the sublime Brother Mozart ever to the fore.”

“Wayne Warlow is to pay a visit to Blackpool Lodge of Sincerity, No. 4175 in March at the invitation of Steve James in order to give a repeat performance.”  “This is a considerable coup for Blackpool, particularly given that the lecturer will be travelling all the way from South Wales to visit us.” “I can strongly recommend this presentation.”

Steve himself has enjoyed a wide and extensive career in show business, being an actor who has appeared in many plays and pantomimes as well as being a well known cabaret performer.

For many years, Wayne was the Musical Director for the New Theatre Cardiff Pantomime, and Steve only ever saw the back of his head.  Wayne’s musical history is extensive, with a very impressive list of achievements as a professional musical director, composer, conductor, producer, presenter and a multi-instrumentalist. He has been involved in over 1800 film, television and radio productions, several thousand theatrical performances and countless live engagements, also having worked with Sir Geraint Evans, Tony Bennet, Dame Anna Neagle and Catherine Zeta Jones. Plus he has a long standing with the B.B.C. Orchestra as a conductor and musical director.

Steve concluded by saying,  “Sincerity Lodge is both honoured and delighted to have this opportunity, and we look forward to extending our usual warm welcome to our friends old and new. I would like to point out that this presentation is suitable for brethren of all ranks”
