Blackpool Group of Lodges

Meeting the Lodge.

Saturnian Lodge No7563 which is a member of the Blackpool Group of Lodges and meets at the Masonic Hall, Adelaide Street, Blackpool, recently opened up its festive board to the ladies of the Lodge.  But on this occasion the special guest of honour was the new candidate, Ken Winstanley and his wife, Heather.  Ken had been successfully balloted for as a member of the lodge and will be initiated into Freemasonry in April of this year.

Saturnian Lodge annually holds a ladies and non-Masons to dine, and this has proved over the years, a very successful vehicle for recruitment.  The Worshipful Master, Richard Glover, commented that Saturnian Lodge, although only being a small lodge, prides itself on its friendliness, and that this evening was a great way for Ken and his wife to meet all the lodge members with their wives, in a relaxing manner.

Relaxing at the festive board.

The festive board was up to the usual high standard, which has now been set by the hall steward, Peter Lewis and Margaret with her team of caterers.  The meal consisted of, asparagus soup, lamb shank with roast potatoes, and finished off with apple pie and cream coffee and mints.  The empty plates returning to the kitchen spoke volumes regarding the quality of food provided.

Ken and his wife, Heather were placed with the Worshipful Master at the top table.  Afterwards Ken, speaking on behalf of himself and his wife, said that they had experienced a fantastic evening and the welcome and warmth of friendship afforded to them both was very much appreciated.  He gave a special thanks to all the members and especially the ladies of the lodge who had made Heather feel very much at home.  Ken concluded by saying that he now was looking forward to his initiation into Freemasonry and becoming an active member of the lodge.
