Blackpool Group of Lodges
Three junior Brethren deliver the working tools
Many visitors and friends of the lodge had travelled many hundreds of miles to be in attendance to see Gordon Smith was installed into the chair of Emblem Lodge No 6727. Stanley Oldfield Assistant Provincial Grand Master said he was delighted to witness some very fine ritual carried out in the lodge.
Peter Smith presented cheques to Stanley, although some monies had already been disbursed, a total of £6,000 was given to Masonic and non-Masonic charities. Significant amounts were given to the Blackpool Masonic Hall building fund and the West Lancashire Freemasons’ Charity.
One of the highlights of the ceremony was the explanation of the working tools, delivered in impeccable style by, Bro’s Chris Cash, Chris Spraklen and David Cryer. A special mention was given to David as he is one of the lodge’s newest members. David said that he had initially been very nervous, but on completion of the presentation he felt that it had been a rewarding experience.
Also in attendance, and travelling many miles to be there were James Jack, Provincial Grand Master of Lanarkshire (Middle Ward), plus Nigel Tyney Provincial Grand Secretary of the Irish constitution. The Province of West Lancashire added to this wonderful Masonic atmosphere with the presence of Stephen Reid, Ian Robertson (Chairman of the Blackpool Group of Lodges) plus some six acting Provincial officers. Stanley also complimented the Director of Ceremonies Stephen Jelly (who has only held the office of DC for 12 months) on the exemplary way in which he had managed the proceedings.
The wives of the members of Emblem Lodge are well known for their support of the lodge and once again 36 of them attended their own meal, and raised £83 which went towards the £607 raised at the festive board.
On 23 March 2011, Emblem Lodge will be visiting Lodge St Bryde in Scotland. A fully inclusive trip with overnight stay has been costed at £65 per head. Anyone wishing to join them can contact the Secretary.
