Blackpool Group of Lodges

Blackpool Masons react to Digital Switchover.

Way back in 2003, the members of Blackpool Lodge of Sincerity No.4175, which is a member of the Blackpool Group of Lodges, readily responded to a request from the Mammography Unit at the Blackpool Victoria Hospital to provide a television for their waiting room.  The purpose of the television was to help the ladies relax, and take their minds off the situation, while waiting for mammography.  However, with the advent of Digital Television in 2010, plus a refurbishment of the Mammography Unit, this set became obsolete.  The old television was not compatible with the main hospital T.V. Circuitry.  So, if this facility was to continue a new television was required.

n the Chair of the Lodge in 2003 was Alex Ewan, and now, in 2009, he had taken the Chair again.  Once again under his guidance the members of Blackpool Lodge of Sincerity No 4175, rose to the challenge.  A special raffle was organised, and the money was raised to enable the hospital to purchase and install a new television, this one having a built in digital reception.

This facility, which was well received, is now providing a benefit for all the patients of the Victoria Hospital Mammography Unit.
