Blackpool Group of Lodges

H.R.H. Prince Andrew, The Duke of York, honours a Blackpool Mason.

Colin Goodwin who is a member of Saturnian Lodge No. 7563, which is part of the Blackpool Group of Lodges under the Chairmanship of Ian Robertson, has been, and still, is a very busy Mason.

He is Saturnian Lodges Almoner, looking after the widows and Members of the Lodge absent due to ill health, also he is the Lodges Group Representative attending Group Meetings, and he is the President of the Masonic Hall, Adelaide Street, Blackpool.

In the role of President he has overseen many changes in the administration, and was recently involved in the refurbishment of the hall. Making Adelaide Street, Masonic Hall, Blackpool, probably one of the most successful in the Province of West Lancashire.  Colin has also devoted a great deal of his free time to none Masonic activities, and for the past 10 years has been the Chairman  of The National Association of Hospital and Community Friends, which this year celebrated it’s 60th anniversary.  In recognition of Colin’s devotion and hard work he was invited to attend St James Palace to receive a certificate from H.R.H. Prince Andrew.

Sadly due to outside commitments he could not attend the Palace personally, but the certificate was presented to him by the President of the League of Friends, Margaret Parr. M.B.E. J.P.

Also a special testimonial was presented to Colin by the Mayoress of Wyre, expressing their appreciation for his dedication. It was said that it had been a privilege to serve with him, and he could look back with pride to the considerable benefits accruing to the patients and staff of the local hospitals as a result of his concern and dedication for their welfare.  On stepping down Colin said that he will now be able to devote more time to his Masonic interests.  This can only be a great benefit to Blackpool Masons and the Blackpool Group in general.
